Photonics is the science and technology of light. The work of the Future Photonics Hub has quite literally changed the way we live: from the speed of our internet to diagnosing diseases. But whilst their research looks decades ahead, their branding, sadly, was lagging decades behind!
We were tasked with designing a new logo and visual identity for the Hub that conveyed their National Leadership position. It would reposition them as confident and bold pioneers to their audiences in manufacturing, government, funding bodies, researchers and the public. The new identity was launched with the publication of their Annual Report.
In designing the logo we sought to capture the movement of light and at the same time communicate ‘hub’. The visual identity encompasses a suite of vibrant colours, confident typography and bold infographics. The final design takes the Future Photonics Hub light years from where they started.
